Dolphin Pool Cleaner Starts Then Stops – Solutions

If your Dolphin turns on and runs forward for about 5 seconds and then goes backwards for about 10 seconds and then stop. Try the following fixes:

  • Solution One

First, unplug everything, the power-cord from the wall outlet and the aquabot from the power supply. Then turn the aquabot upside down and leave it alone for 5-10 minutes till aby stored power completely drains.

After 10-15 minutes, plug everything back in and turn on the power supply with the robot upside down. It will undergo a test phase where it will spin both directions and different speeds for 30-40 seconds.

Now that the test is over, turn it off, and put it in the pool and turn the power back on. It should be working fine now. If the test phase only lasts a few seconds or more that 2 min. Unplug everything, wait a little longer, and start over again.

The number one culprit would be the a clogged Impeller. Dirt and Hair can also keep it from spinning, and then you won’t have the suction to stick to the walls, or it’ll stop all together.

Try to spin your impeller by hand, if you can’t then you that’s the culprit. In my case, I bought a $450 Motor Assembly, sometimes called a motor controller (BROWSE THROUGH SOME ON AMAZON). The only con to this was the impeller motor inside. I ended up opening the impeller motor, which was a simple task and replacing the bad internal ball bearing. I got that off Amazon cheap! Here’s how I fixed it!

Good Luck!
